How To Be Consistent!
In the first email that was sent a week back then, I did tell you the reasons why being ‘unique’ is just too unique.
Today, after you read this till the end, I promise you that you will be different than yesterday by just following those steps.
Being consistent and disciplined are some important parts of my life, to reach my goals, know my potential, and focus on everything that I do.
Question – how do I put these two as my long-term motivation? Easy, it is from our habits, as well as personality.
Let me help you how and I will give some tips on increasing your consistency when it comes to work.
Consistency? What is it?
Have you ever gotten distracted while doing your work at the office, or maybe at home or in class (if you are still a student)? Well, most of us! Consistent is someone who behaves in the same way – the same attitude towards people and things – or achieves the same level of success in something.
Having consistency in your life can help develop discipline (which I will talk about later), boost your productivity, and increase your self-confidence.
Here are my 6 tips to become consistent:
1. Set Your Goals
List all goals on a piece of paper and use the SMART technique. (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound)
· Specific – Set a specific goal that is both well-defined and focused.
· Measurable – Make sure that the goal you set can be measurable so that you will be able to track your progress.
· Achievable – Consider all your resources, skills, and limitations. (As for me, I will include 5W 1H Question to understand my needs better)
· Relevant – The goal you are trying to accomplish should be meaningful, relevant, and aligned with your core values and objectives.
· Time-bound – Set a specific deadline for completing the goal. This will make you more consistent.
2. Learn How to Prioritize
Learning how to prioritize can help you set your mind right, make it easier to deal with multiple things at once, and ultimately become more consistent.
Methods: Start with a simple to-do list (all important and unimportant tasks), write down all the tasks and obligations, and start ticking them off one by one. It is important to label those tasks as important ones and unimportant ones. Or you can use The Eisenhower Method.
3. Always Record Your Progress
If you have a notebook, why don’t you start to track the progress of your daily life? It does not matter whether you want to keep track of your activities, goals, tasks, or obligations.
In this way, you can understand yourself better on what tasks or activities you always do and make it your priority. (also can become your habit)
4. Limit Distractions
To limit or eliminate distractions, here is what you can do:
· Have a dedicated workspace. (Find a suitable workspace, for example: quiet and calm)
· Turn off your phone and the notification. (silent your phone)
· Limit the amount of time you spend browsing the web or social media sites.
· Try time-management techniques.
· You can use my technique here: Charge your phone while you are working or try to spend like 1 – 2 hours without your phone, which means going for a walk, reading, or spending time with your pet.
5. Track Time
A big part of being consistent revolves around knowing where and how you spend your time. And, in the context of work, that means tracking the duration of individual tasks. There are several ways to do this:
· The pen and paper method
· Using a regular spreadsheet
· Using a regular timesheet
· Use project time tracking
· Very popular opinion – Use the Pomodoro Technique; set 25 minutes for your deep work and have a 5-minute break. Repeat this 4 times, if you have a long work.
6. Be Patient and Forgive Failures
As I said in the previous email, do not be afraid to fail; it is okay to fail. The rule here is that you must improve again and not make the same mistake twice.
When I said that failing is okay, does not mean that you do not have to try or give up. I know a few of you might be thinking this way, but remember it is 2024. There should be no one having this kind of mindset anymore.
In either case, it is important not to give up, but to give yourself enough time to work on another solution, forgive yourself, be patient, and change your mindset about failure.
Every goal you have written on a piece of paper needs patience and a lot of effort from yourself. There is nothing to do with luck here.
Most importantly, eliminate all the habits and start your life with a new one. Once you practice all of this, you will become more consistent and as you realize, you are a newer version of yourself.
“Your story awaits. Seize the pen. Write your masterpiece.”

P/S: In the next email, I will talk about discipline and share my tips on how you can become a disciplined person.
I would like to recommend a book for you to read which is “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” by Carol Dweck. May the success be with you.
